A free general medical camp, a CSR initiative of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Chennai, was held at Sikkal Panchayat Union in Ramanathapuram districtAccording to a press release on Thursday, ONGC Cauvery Basin manager U. Chukkaseri inaugurated the camp.He told the gathering that ONGC was actively serving the people of southern districts, particularly in areas of education, healthcare and social development. As part of the efforts, the ‘Voice Trust’ was implementing the special free medical camp for villagers in Kadaladi and Mudukulathur areas.“Through the initiative, we are bringing in medical facilities, not otherwise available locally, from places such as Madurai and Ramanathapuram to provide free medical services, medicines and guidance for advanced treatment. Specifically, we are offering free screenings using equipment for breast cancer detection and bone-related disorders, as well as tests for cholesterol, hemoglobin, TB and diabetes, alongside ECG, Echo, and ultrasound scans,” he further said.“Through this initiative, we are facilitating an easy way for people to detect early symptoms of diseases and receive appropriate treatment. We plan to expand the public medical service to many more villages in the future; This month alone, we have conducted medical camps in Punnavasal, Lanchambur, Savariarpattinam, and Sikkal cillages,” said Dr. Ramachandran, Block Medical Officer of Sayalkudi.He also requested the provision of necessary specialised medical equipment for the Primary Health Centre in the area.Earlier, VOICE Trust founder T. Murugesan welcomed the gathering. HR Head, (ONGC Chennai) Dibakar Behera, Sikkal Primary Health Centre Medical Officer Kabilesh, and Kadaladi Block Development Officer C.
