One hundred days after his arrest, Baha’i citizen Vafa Kashefi remains in prolonged detention without trial in the quarantine ward of Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad.
Prison quarantine wards are typically designated for the temporary holding of newly arrived detainees before their transfer to general population units. These wards often have severely limited facilities compared with general units, with frequent reports highlighting substandard sanitary conditions and restricted access to medical services.
According to reports received, Vafa Kashefi responded to a summons from the Revolutionary Court of Mashhad on April 21 for a formal arraignment. He was arrested immediately following his court appearance and transferred to Vakilabad Prison.
Information indicates that Kashefi’s case file was initially transferred from Branch 270 of the Interrogation Department at the Mashhad Revolutionary Court to Branch 6 of the Revolutionary Court for review. However, the case was returned to the interrogation branch before being reassigned to Branch 5 of the Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Yazdankhah.
To date, no official trial date has been set for the Baha’i citizen. Kashefi was previously arrested at his residence on January 11, 2026, and released on bail after one week in custody.
