Former SAPS Special Task Force member Matipandile Sotheni has appointed a third legal representative, while the State secured another postponement to complete outstanding cellphone evidence in the murder case of Marius "Vlam" van der Merwe.

Former SAPS Special Task Force member Matipandile Sotheni has appointed his third lawyer since his arrest as the murder case linked to Madlanga Commission Witness D, Marius "Vlam" van der Merwe, was postponed once again.

He will spend more nights behind bars after his case, was postponed to allow investigators to complete the mapping and plotting of cellphone data.

Sotheni, 42, appeared before the Brakpan Magistrate's Court on Thursday after being denied bail last month.

Van der Merwe, known as Witness D in the Madlanga Commission, was a key witness in the inquiry.
