Cryptocurrency punters are not leaning in favor of the possibility that Mojtaba Khamenei will be ousted as Iran’s Supreme Leader, even as President Donald Trump vowed to hit the nation “very hard” in the days ahead.
No Threat to Mojtaba Khamenei’s Regime?
Polygon (CRYPTO: POL)-based Polymarket currently assigns a 22% chance that Khamenei is removed, detained, or blocked from acting as Supreme Leader before the end of the year, significantly down from 70% seen in early March. This was the period following the assassination of his father and former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The odds of a change by the end of September were far lower, at just 10%.
Over $22 million has been wagered on the outcome, making it one of Polymarket’s most actively traded bets.
