K-pop superstars BTS have announced they will not submit their music for consideration at the 2027 Grammy Awards, a decision that has reignited debate over how global music is recognised.
According to the BBC, all seven members issued a joint statement on Instagram explaining why they had opted out of this year's awards process.
"We have decided not to enter the Grammys this year. I hope that music can be heard and loved for what it is, rather than being divided by region or language."
The announcement surprised many fans, with BTS widely considered strong contenders in several major Grammy categories following the success of their comeback album Arirang.
