PS5 Standard Edition Gets Rs 15,000 Price HikeThe regular PS5 disc drive unit is presently up for grabs at Rs 69,990 on Sony's online store, ShopAtSC. Before this, the cost of this device was Rs 54,990, making the PS5 cost Rs 15,000 more than before in India.This increase represents a near 28% hike in the price of the item. Despite the presence of the listing of this item on Sony’s website, it is out of stock currently.The PS5 Digital Edition that does not have a disc drive is not currently available for sale on Sony’s ShopAtSC website. Hence, it is still not known if the digital version also received a price hike in India.Sony Has Raised PS5 Prices in Other MarketsThe latest Indian price hike follows several price revisions for PlayStation hardware in international markets.In July last year, Sony increased the price of the PS5 Digital Edition in India from Rs 44,990 to Rs 49,990. That was a Rs 5,000 increase, while the standard disc edition remained unchanged at the time.Following the above scenario, Sony also increased the prices of its PS5 consoles; PS5 Pro and PlayStation Portal in some other regions. In April last year, Sony raised prices of its PS5 consoles in the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Australia and New Zealand due to "difficult economic times."
