The ANC Women’s League will engage Limpopo Premier Phophi Ramathuba after rejecting her claim that relationships with younger men have contributed to the downfall of women in politics.
The ANC Women's League (ANCWL) says it will question Limpopo Premier Phophi Ramathuba after distancing itself from her remarks linking women leaders' downfall to relationships with younger men, commonly known as "Ben 10s".
Ramathuba's remarks, made earlier this month during the handover of a newly built house to the family of conjoined twins in Lulekani, Phalaborwa in Limpopo, sparked widespread debate on social media.
The issue was discussed during a recent ANCWL's two-day National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting last weekend, where members considered Ramathuba's comments.
During her address, Ramathuba cautioned women in positions of power against allowing younger partners to influence their personal lives or leadership decisions.
