The Volkswagen microbus that was transporting schoolchildren when it collided with a Honda Jazz on the M7 Road outside Katlehong.
At least 21 children were injured when a light motor vehicle collided with a 10-seater scholar’s transport carrying primary school pupils on the M7 Road in the Tsietsi section outside Katlehong, Gauteng, on Wednesday morning. The injured included 19 occupants and two pedestrians.
City of Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) spokesperson William Ntladi said emergency crews were dispatched shortly before 7am after reports of the crash.
He added that two rescue teams from Zonkizizwe and Palm Ridge fire stations were deployed to the scene.
The crash involved a Volkswagen Microbus and a Honda Jazz. The Microbus, which was transporting schoolchildren, reportedly had 20 occupants, including the driver, while the Honda Jazz was carrying four people.
