While elevated crude oil prices remain a key risk, analysts believe a stable rupee, sustained FPI inflows, easing volatility and strong corporate earnings could help domestic markets remain resilient during the ongoing consolidation phase.

Indian stock markets are likely to open marginally down on Thursday amid mixed global cues. The market will remain cautious due to the wide split within the US Federal Reserve on interest rates and escalating geopolitical tensions. However, a stable rupee, backed by FPI buying and quarterly results, will help the market stay firm in this consolidation phase, analysts said.Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money, a SEBI-registered online trading and wealth-tech firm, said geopolitical concerns have returned to the forefront after U.S. President Donald Trump warned that Iran was “going to get a beating,” raising fears of a renewed escalation in the Middle East following a brief period of relative calm. “The heightened tensions have kept the geopolitical risk premium embedded in energy markets, with WTI crude oil holding firm in the $83–84 per barrel range. Investors will now closely monitor upcoming U.S. inflation and economic growth data for fresh clues on the Fed’s policy trajectory. In the aftermath of the decision, gold prices advanced as investors adopted a more defensive stance amid continued uncertainty over the interest-rate outlook and geopolitical risks,” he further said.Q1 earnings and quality stocks remain in focusAccording to experts, the focus will be on Q1 results and India Inc’s outlook.“Over the longer term, markets have rewarded companies with high sales growth and those that produce high return on equity.
