Last week, Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham placed herself at the center of the conservative panic around trans athletes after voicing that she wanted to “protect young girls” from “biological men” in an ESPN profile. While loudly transphobic figures, including Senator Ted Cruz, Riley Gaines, and queen of the TERF-dom J.K. Rowling showed their support for Cunningham, the WNBA player doubled down even further with an Instagram caption that read, “I said what I said.” But not everyone is onboard with the Fever player’s anti-trans opinions; her podcast co-host and ex–Summer House star West Wilson called her comments “dumb,” and now other WNBA players are making it clear where they stand. Ahead of tip-off against the Fever on Tuesday night, Seattle Storm center Stefanie Dolson wore a “Trans Rights Are Human Rights” T-shirt walking into the arena.
