The Fed kept rates steady in a range between 3.5% and 3.75% even as three voting members dissented, calling for a hike. Investors were braced for an even more hawkish outcome.
Mining and metals trading house Glencore said volatile energy and commodities markets bolstered traders' performance in the first half of the year.
