Two key Bills — the Delhi Ease of Doing Business Bill, 2026 and the Delhi (Right of Citizen to Time Bound and Ease of Delivery of Service) Bill, 2026 — are expected to be tabled in the Assembly during the Monsoon Session scheduled from August 7 to 11, sources said on Wednesday.Lieutenant-Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday reviewed the ongoing drive to streamline regulations and minimise compliance burdens in the Capital, which includes the proposed legislation on ease of doing business, sources added. The Bill is expected to be cleared by the Cabinet within a week to allow it to be tabled in the House.The second Bill, which is set to replace the Delhi (Right of Citizen to Time Bound Delivery of Services) Act, 2011, was approved by the Cabinet earlier this month. It proposes a fine of ₹250 per day, subject to a maximum of ₹5,000, on erring officials if a service is delayed without valid justification.‘Include Question Hour’Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday urged Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta to include Question Hour in the upcoming session.Party’s chief whip Sanjeev Jha said the session serves little purpose without it and asked whether the government is trying to prevent the scrutiny of corruption and irregularities across departments by preventing members from asking questions.He requested Mr. Gupta not to allow the House to convene without a Question Hour, adding that the Opposition was willing to support an extension of the session if needed.“Normally, if a Question Hour is to be held, there is a gap of 15 days so that members can submit questions, the government can prepare replies, and the responses can be placed before the Assembly.
