The group has an interest in ensuring that regional connectivity grows in a sustainable manner

Adani Group is looking to support the development of India’s regional aviation ecosystem as airport infrastructure expands, but has no plans to enter the airline business, said Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jugeshinder Singh on Wednesday. Singh said that as an airport operator and a potential participant in the next phase of regional airport development, the group has an interest in ensuring that regional connectivity grows in a sustainable manner. He said supporting the ecosystem does not mean the group intends to operate an airline. “When the next round of airports come there will be regional airports. The current ability to support an airline business is up to five per cent equity...We want to see — as owners of airports and regional airports in the future — that India’s regional airline system also develops properly,” Singh told investors after the results of Adani Enterprises Ltd. He said the development of regional airlines would be beneficial for airport operators by improving connectivity and utilisation of aviation infrastructure across smaller cities and regions. “It is in our interest to see the development of regional transportation infrastructure. We would like to support that infrastructure in some way. It doesn’t mean we start running an airline,” Singh added. Clarifying the group’s position, Singh said Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL) remains focused on its airports business and infrastructure development. “AEL has no interest in airlines and we have clarified that. We are focused on our airports business and roll out that infrastructure,” he said.Published on July 29, 2026
