The All India Youth Federation (AIYF) has accused the Minister for Industries, S. Keerthana, of allegedly ignoring an activist’s attempt to submit a petition during her visit to Kelavarapalli dam in Hosur on Wednesday. The petition had called for immediate intervention to stem the damage from sewage pollution that was foaming up the waters of Kelavarpalli dam polluting the ground water, drinking water sources, agriculture and aquatic life. It is alleged that after inspecting Kelavarapalli reservoir and interacting with farmers, Ms. Keerthana got into the car. An AIYF functionary waved over the car’s windshield seeking the attention of the Minister. She allegedly did not roll down the window to receive the petition.V. Niruban, the AIYF functionary, said that since the petition was about a plan for preventing pollution in Kelavarapalli dam, and since the Minister was inspecting the dam, it was hoped that she would receive the petition.Though she received petitions from farmers at the dam site, the functionary’s attempt to handover the petition was allegedly ignored.Earlier, Ms. Keethana visited the Hosur Book Fair and distributed books to students under the CSR funds, and inaugurated newly built classrooms at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School.
