Leon Goretzka, the German midfielder who spent the better part of a decade at Bayern Munich, is a free agent with a very specific wish list. At the top of it: FC Barcelona. The problem is Barcelona apparently didn’t get the memo, or more accurately, they got it and sent it straight to the trash folder.
Goretzka has actively offered his services to the Catalan club, hoping to reunite with former national team and Bayern coach Hansi Flick. Barcelona, for their part, has publicly confirmed they are not in negotiations with Goretzka or his representatives.
A free agent with options, but not the one he wants
Goretzka’s contract with Bayern Munich ended after the club decided not to renew it. He joined Bayern from Schalke 04 in 2018, and over the course of 211 appearances scored 40 goals. His desire to join Barcelona first surfaced in January 2026, shortly after Bayern made it clear an extension wasn’t coming.
Meanwhile, Juventus has reportedly stepped into the vacuum with a concrete proposal. The Italian giants are said to have offered Goretzka a net annual salary of €7 million plus a €10 million signing bonus.
