Former Minister and senior YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Dharmana Prasada Rao on Wednesday alleged that the Alluri Sitharama Raju International Airport was made possible only due to the efforts of former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. He alleged that the present NDA government is attempting to claim credit for the project.Addressing a press conference at the YSRCP office on Wednesday, Mr. Dharmana said that Mr. Jagan had laid the foundation stone for the Bhogapuram Airport in May 2023, after ensuring proper land acquisition, rehabilitation and resettlement packages, clearances from various Central departments, water and power arrangements. He added that around ₹1,200 crore was spent by the previous YSRCP government towards land acquisition, compensation, rehabilitation and other infrastructure requirements. He further alleged that even after two years of the NDA government coming to power, the connectivity roads between Vizag and Bhogapuram Airport were not completed.
