The fifth accused in the alleged cartel murder trial, Nthabiseng Zandile Nzama, has appointed new legal representation after her previous legal team withdrew because of financial constraints.

One of the accused in the Vusimuzi Cat Matlala trial was dealt another blow this week as her attorney on record withdrew due to her financial constraints.

Nthabiseng Zandile Nzama, an honours student at Stadio Higher Education for an honours degree in commerce and a co-accused, made an application earlier this week to be allowed to miss the proceedings so that she could study.

However, the Judge denied the application.

On Wednesday morning, the court heard that Nzama's attorney Advocate Timothy Chauke withdrew due to financial problems.
