A 26-year-old woman from Marsabit County has given birth to quintuplets after doctors had initially expected her to deliver triplets.
Nchauni Lemoitanit, from Arge Village in Loyangalani Sub-County, welcomed five babies, three boys and two girls, in a rare natural delivery that surprised both health workers and residents.
Lemoitanit, who has reportedly been married for five years, had been informed during prenatal scans that she was expecting triplets, according to KBC.
On medical advice, she left her husband's home and travelled to her parents' home in Olturot Village to access safer maternity care. The journey was difficult and expensive due to the lack of public transport.
