Bulgaria's next presidential election will be held on October 25, according to a decision reached during the regular meeting of parliamentary group leaders in the National Assembly.
If no candidate secures the required majority in the first round, a runoff vote will take place on November 1.
The date has not yet been publicly commented on by representatives of the country's political parties.
Parliament sets the election date
Under Bulgaria's Constitution, the National Assembly is responsible for determining the date of the presidential and vice-presidential elections. The vote must be held within a constitutional window of between two and three months before the current president's term expires.
