Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has said that recent comments by APC Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno on the implementation of the 2026 budget have vindicated the opposition's long-standing criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Atiku said the senator’s remarks exposed what he described as the dangerous consequences of the Federal Government’s alleged fiscal mismanagement, arguing that the failure to properly implement the budget has contributed to Nigeria’s worsening insecurity.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku said he could no longer remain silent while Nigerians continue to lose their lives under what he described as a government that has "normalised bloodshed."
According to the former vice president, Senator Monguno’s intervention went beyond concerns about budget implementation, alleging that the APC lawmaker questioned why budgets duly passed by the National Assembly were allegedly not being faithfully implemented and why trillions of naira generated by the Federation were reportedly not being distributed in line with constitutional provisions.
