The group described the case as an example of what it called unfair and oppressive workplace practices, insisting that no worker should be deprived of their liberty under such circumstances.
A Lagos Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ejigbo has discharged Taiwo Musliudeen, an employee who was arraigned after her employer, Cravings and More, accused her of receiving a token from a customer at her workplace.
The development was announced on Tuesday by the Take It Back (TIB) Movement in a statement shared on its X account.
According to the movement, Musliudeen’s discharge marked “another victory” for its Lagos State chapter, which supported her during the legal proceedings.
“Today, justice prevailed as Taiwo Musliudeen, who was unjustly incarcerated by her employer, Cravings and More, and arraigned before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court over allegations of receiving a token from a customer at her place of work, has been discharged by the court,” the statement read.
