The Oyo State Government has taken delivery of two surveillance aircraft acquired to strengthen intelligence gathering and enhance security operations in a bid to intensify efforts to combat kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes.
The aircraft landed at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan on Tuesday, with Governor Seyi Makinde present to receive them.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, the government said the arrival of the aircraft marked the fulfilment of its commitment to bolster the state's security architecture through enhanced aerial surveillance and intelligence gathering.
Oyelade recalled that Governor Makinde had announced on July 18, 2026, that the aircraft had arrived in Nigeria and were undergoing reassembly at the Nigerian Air Force hangar in Lagos before being deployed to Oyo State.
