The Bayelsa State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the death of a National Youth Service Corps member, Stanley Okebaram, whose body was recovered in the Nembe Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, Musa Mohammed, confirmed the development to PUNCH Metro on Tuesday, saying detectives had launched a discreet investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the corps member’s death.

“The police have launched a discreet investigation into the incident. The body has been deposited in the morgue pending the conclusion of the probe,” Mohammed said.

Okebaram, a graduate of civil engineering and former president of the Students’ Union Government of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, was found dead days after he was reported missing in the riverine community where he was serving.

According to a post on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Tuesday, the 27-year-old’s lifeless body was recovered from a body of water in Nembe after he was allegedly attacked by yet-to-be-identified assailants.
