He is just two points behind new championship leader Jake Dennis of Andretti after failing to score in Round 15 of the Tokyo double-header. A tyre puncture and a team strategy that went wrong on a rapidly drying circuit were enough to leave Evans without any points in as he was unable to finish the race. He remains hopeful of winning the Formula E title, with the team having enjoyed strong results in London in previous seasons.Mitch Evans has two races to claim the Formula E Season 12 titleTokyo E-Prix was a bittersweet weekend for Mitch Evans, who collected valuable points by finishing fourth in Round 14, but he couldn't finish the race in Round 15. Jaguar TCS Racing faced a challenging and fast-changing Round 15 in Tokyo, with heavy early rain giving way to a drying circuit that shifted the strategic picture mid-race. The team’s wet tyre pressure strategy did not work well, with the tyres losing grip and making energy management more difficult. Evans retired his Jaguar I-TYPE 7 on the final lap after an early-race brush with the wall caused a suspension issue.In a statement after the Round 15 race, he said, “We went for a full wet tyre pressure set-up today, as the forecast we were looking at suggested we’d expect a lot of rain in the opening phases of the race. Unfortunately, that didn’t come. It’s disappointing but we’re still very much in the title fight. We’ve got two races left and historically, had good performance in London, so I know as a team we won’t stop fighting.”Jaguar TCS Racing on all that went wrong at the Tokyo E-PrixOn the other hand, Jaguar TCS Racing continues to lead the ABB FIA Teams’ World Championship with 257 points.Opening up about the issues that affected the team in Japan, Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal Ian James said, “After a strong qualifying result from both drivers, the remainder of today (Round 15, Sunday) didn’t unfold the way we expected. We set tyre pressures on both cars for a wet race based on the conditions we anticipated, but the weather changed as the lights went out and the track dried very quickly. That put us on the back foot as the race evolved, and from that point it was impossible to stay competitive with those who had gambled on tyre pressures for a dry race.”“But, while it’s not the result we wanted, we clearly have a very fast car in the Jaguar I-TYPE 7 and still leave Tokyo in a stronger championship position - both in the Drivers’ and Teams’ Championships - than we arrived. We’ll take that into London and keep fighting right to the end.
