The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party's leader, Jacob Zuma has established a new Strategic Presidential Team (SPT) as its highest decision-making and strategic leadership body.

With the local government elections looming, the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has announced a major shake-up of its leadership structure, with party president Jacob Zuma dissolving the Presidential Task Team (PTT) and replacing it with a newly established Strategic Presidential Team (SPT).

The party said the Strategic Presidential Team will now serve as its highest decision-making and strategic leadership body, assuming full responsibility for guiding the organisation's political direction, governance and electoral strategy.

National spokesperson Sifiso Mahlangu said the new structure was established in terms of Section 7 2(h) of the MK Party Constitution.

According to Mahlangu, the move was aimed at strengthening the party's leadership framework, centralising strategic authority and improving decision-making
