The connectivity problem for business travelers
International roaming through your home carrier still works, but the costs add up fast. Most US and European cell phone plans charge premium rates for data, calls, and texts abroad. A week at a conference in a new country can easily result in a roaming bill that exceeds the cost of the flight.
The old school approach of buying a local SIM card at the airport solves the cost problem but introduces new ones.
