The men were arrested and charged after they were caught with about R3 million of jewellery which was stolen from Premjis Jewellery at the Gateway Theatre of Shopping.

FOUR Umlazi men have been sentenced to a combined 97 years in prison for their involvement in a violent jewellery heist at Premjis Jewellers, in Gateway, where two security guards were shot.

Khetha Ngcobo, Vukani Dlamini, Mbatha Nkululeko, and Anele Radebe pleaded guilty to robbery with aggravating circumstances and two counts of attempted murder in the Durban Magistrate’s Court last week.

They were sentenced by Magistrate Mayne Mewalal on Tuesday and received a combined 97 year sentence.

They were arrested when they attempted to sell R3.8 million in stolen jewellery to a police informer from Chatsworth.
