President Donald Trump is hosting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington on July 28 for back-to-back meetings that touch on two of the world’s most volatile conflicts. The diplomatic doubleheader coincides with the funeral of Senator Lindsey Graham, the longtime foreign policy hawk who died on July 11 at age 71.
The Trump-Netanyahu sit-down is their first meeting since the escalation of the Iran conflict back in February 2026. Netanyahu’s visit comes at Trump’s direct invitation. Both he and Zelenskyy are expected to attend Graham’s funeral service, scheduled for 2 p.m. ET, turning what could have been a somber domestic affair into a geopolitical summit by circumstance.
Zelenskyy continues to navigate a grinding war with Russia, and his presence in D.C. signals the urgency of securing clarity on continued US support.
Sanctions regimes have direct implications for crypto infrastructure. When the Treasury Department targets entities or entire nations with sanctions, crypto exchanges and DeFi protocols face compliance pressure that can reshape how capital moves globally. The Russia-Ukraine conflict alone has already prompted waves of sanctions-related enforcement actions against crypto platforms accused of facilitating transactions for sanctioned Russian entities. Any escalation or de-escalation coming out of the Zelenskyy meeting could signal whether that regulatory pressure intensifies or eases.
