RIYADH: Gulf Cooperation Council foreign ministers discussed ways to intensify coordination on issues concerning freedom of navigation and safety in the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday.
During a virtual meeting attended by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, ministers exchanged views on current developments and ongoing negotiations, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Discussions also focused on ensuring rights of passage and transit, as well as the smooth flow of shipping, trade, and supplies — in accordance with international law — while upholding the sovereign rights of all littoral states of the Gulf.
The ministers emphasized the importance of continuing joint action, prioritizing political and diplomatic solutions, and creating conditions conducive to building trust and reaching solutions acceptable to all parties.
Efforts to advance negotiations toward practical understandings that contribute to de-escalating tensions and fostering an environment of regional security and stability were also discussed.
