WhatsApp is officially launching support for taking voice and video calls on the web, as well as introducing a bunch of new calling features.
Rolling out now, WhatsApp Web now supports voice and video calls, whether 1:1 or group calls, all with no app downloads needed. This has been in testing for months, but is officially available now.
WhatsApp web calling supports screen sharing, reactions, and your full call history, as well as some new features. This includes Call Transfer, which lets you swap between devices without hanging up or re-joining the call. You can move from a phone to the web or vice versa, on whatever devices you have WhatsApp available on.
WhatsApp calls are also adding support for a waiting room when someone joins the call via a link, as well as “QuickHD” that improves video quality in the first few seconds of the call. Finally, WhatsApp calls now have a noise suppression option to tune out background noise.
