Warm air from the southwest is expected to bring several days of scorching weather.
Meteorologists are warning that another heat wave could grip Slovakia later this week, with high temperatures expected to persist until at least 5 August. While some forecast models suggest temperatures could approach 40°C in southern Slovakia, experts stress that this remains just one possible scenario, Denník N reported.
The widely used Norwegian weather service Yr.no is among the models forecasting temperatures around 40°C in parts of southern Slovakia. However, meteorologists caution against taking such long-range forecasts at face value, as weather apps often rely on a single forecasting model.
At the end of June, Slovakia experienced a historic heat wave that shattered the country's previous temperature record of 40.3°C, set in 2007. The current all-time high stands at 41.3°C, recorded in Kamenica nad Hronom on 30 June, surpassing the 41.0°C measured the previous day.
Although the next heat wave is still several days away and forecasts remain subject to change, experts are urging the public to prepare.
