Former IDAC head Advocate Andrea Johnson told the Madlanga Commission that she is not sure if the matter regarding former police minister Bheki Cele and receiving slush fund was ever investigated.
Outgoing head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), Advocate Andrea Johnson, has failed to explain why allegations that former Police Minister Bheki Cele benefited from the police secret fund were not investigated, despite falling within the unit's mandate.
The issue emerged during Johnson's testimony at the Madlanga Commission on Tuesday.
This is after Co-Commissioner Sesi Baloyi questioned why claims contained in an affidavit by National Coloured Congress (NCC) leader Fadiel Adams appeared to receive different treatment from other Crime Intelligence investigations.
In a statement submitted to IDAC, Adams alleged that Crime Intelligence funds had been misused and claimed: “I suspect that some of the funds taken unlawfully from the secret funds account are being given to the former Police Minister, Bheki Cele.”
