Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company Ltd (CIFCL) has reported a net profit of ₹1,654 crore for the quarter ended June 2026 (Q1FY27), up 46 per cent y-o-y from the same quarter last year.Profitability was aided by a 28 per cent y-o-y growth in net income for the quarter, which stood at ₹4,930 crore compared to ₹3,865 crore in the same period last year. NNet interest margins (NIM) improved to 8.2 per cent in June 2026, as compared to 7.8 per cent in the last year.The Board of Cholamandalam also approved fundraising by way of issue of non-convertible debentures (NCDs).“The Board approved the issue of secured and/or unsecured NCDs aggregating to ₹55,000 crore in one or more tranches on a private placement basis,” the company said in the exchange filing.The NBFC’s Assets Under Management (AUM) crossed ₹2,50,000 crore and saw a healthy 23 per cent growth, ending at ₹2,54,392 crore as of June 2026.Vehicle finance growthDisbursements during the quarter grew 22 per cent y-o-y and stood at ₹29,612 crore, led by vehicle finance loans. 56 per cent of the disbursement went towards auto loans, 24 per cent towards MSMEs and 20 per cent towards consumer ecosystem. Disbursements in vehicle finance grew by 21 per cent in Q1FY27 to ₹16,503 crore as compared to Q1FY26. Vehicle finance growth was led by heavy commercial vehicle and passenger vehicle lending.Asset quality saw mild deterioration asg ross NPA per cent as per RBI norms was at 4.50 per cent as of June 2026 as against 4.36 per cent on March 2026. Net NPA was at 2.95 per cent as of June 2026 as against 2.87 per cent in the previous March quarter.The capital adequacy ratio (CAR) of the company as of June 2026 was at 19.81 per cent as against the regulatory requirement of 15 per cent.The NBFC continued to steadily grow its gold loans business and disbursed ₹754 crore during Q1FY27 with the AUM of ₹2,143 crore as of June 30, 2026. “We are currently operating through 171 dedicated branches,” CIFCL said.CIFCL ended the trading day at ₹1,766.80, down 1 per cent on the BSE.Published on July 28, 2026
