Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, has started the process of inviting applications from interested parties to serve as Independent Panel members for the National Arts Council (NAC).
Despite a pending court matter, the Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, has extended an invitation for applications from qualified and interested individuals to serve as Independent Panel members for the National Arts Council (NAC).
This announcement was made on Monday, as the minister seeks to bolster the governance of the NAC at a time marked by a series of governance and other internal challenges.
According to the statement, the Independent Panel's primary responsibility will be to shortlist, interview, and recommend candidates for appointment to the NAC Council, in accordance with Section 4(3)(c) of the National Arts Council Act, 1997 (Act No. 56 of 1997).
The appointed members will play a critical role in assessing nominations, developing fair and objective criteria, and maintaining confidentiality throughout the recruitment process.
