The Chernivtsi Regional Police are searching for a man who wounded two law enforcement officers with a hunting shotgun during an investigation.
According to Ukrinform, the National Police reported this.
Today, July 28, at approximately 7:45 a.m., in the village of Yizhivtsi, Chernivtsi district, police officers arrived at the residence of a 54-year-old resident to conduct investigative procedures as part of criminal proceedings initiated under Part 1 of Article 263 (illegal handling of weapons) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
“While the procedural measures were being carried out, the man fired several shots from a hunting rifle at the law enforcement officers, after which he fled toward a forested area. As a result of the incident, two police officers were injured. The victims are receiving the necessary medical care,” the statement reads.
A special police operation has been launched in the region to locate and apprehend the armed suspect. The necessary police forces and resources have been deployed for the search.
