Afrotainment record label founder Mthokozisi "DJ Tira" Khathi has instructed his attorneys to issue a cease-and-desist letter to comedian and podcaster Sandile "Mpukane" Makhanya over allegedly defamatory remarks that, he says, falsely link the award-winning DJ and music producer to the abuse of artists.
Award-winning musician, events organiser and Afrotainment founder Mthokozisi "DJ Tira" Khathi has threatened legal action against comedian and podcaster Sandile "Mpukane" Makhanya over comments made during a recent podcast interview.
In a letter of demand dated July 23, 2026, DJ Tira's attorneys, Nhlapo Attorneys, accuse Makhanya of making "false, misleading and defamatory" statements about both the musician and his record label, Afrotainment.
The letter relates to comments allegedly made by Makhanya during an interview published on Nawe Upopile Studios on or about July 17, titled On Point With Sandy Nene Season 2 | Fly Motion | Never Going Back to Radio | Afrotainment | Hacked.
According to the attorneys, Makhanya created the impression that artists associated with Afrotainment had been abused in one form or another by DJ Tira.
