RRP Electronics, an emerging semiconductor manufacturing company, has entered into a strategic partnership with Orvis Semi, an advanced electro-optics company, to develop and manufacture next-generation Low Light Imaging Sensors for defence, surveillance and security applications.The partnership brings together Orvis Semi’s expertise in sensor design with RRP Electronics’ advanced semiconductor packaging and manufacturing capabilities.Under the leadership of Prof Mukul Sarkar of IIT Delhi, Orvis Semi has been developing advanced CMOS-based Low Light Imaging Sensors capable of digitising images while functioning as intelligent surveillance devices. Unlike conventional image intensifier tube technology, the advanced CMOS-based sensors offer enhanced functionality, broader applications and potential for scalable indigenous manufacturing.As Maharashtra’s first operational OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) facility, RRP Electronics will leverage its semiconductor packaging and assembly capabilities to manufacture the sensors while integrating them into complete electro-optical solutions through its group company, RRP S4E Innovation.This combination of indigenous design, semiconductor packaging and system integration establishes a complete value chain within India for advanced low-light imaging technology.RRP Electronics has already invested in a dedicated mask set at a commercial semiconductor fabrication facility and will use its in-house OSAT infrastructure for sensor assembly and packaging.Rajendra Chodankar, founder & Chairman, RRP Group said by partnering with Orvis Semi, the company combines cutting-edge research with modern semiconductor manufacturing capabilities to develop technologies that have the potential to transform defence and surveillance applications.The company intends to create technologies that strengthen the nation’s strategic capabilities while positioning India as a global hub for semiconductor and electro-optical innovation, he added.As the partnership progresses from joint development to large-scale production, both companies remain committed to delivering mission-ready, globally competitive low-light imaging solutions, said the company.Published on July 28, 2026
