Defence R&D startup Ammunic Systems plans to focus on loitering munitions and advanced naval electronic fusing systems over the next five years, as it looks to expand its product portfolio and tap export markets.Currently, the company has an order book of ₹15 crore and is targeting to expand into Southeast Asia and the Middle East, founder and Chief Executive Officer Priyanka Singhal told businessline.Singhal added that the company’s current focus is on loitering munitions and gravity-drop bombs, particularly its Skanda system. She added that Ammunic is also expanding into naval warfare technologies, which it sees as an underserved segment.“We have filed a patent for an advanced electronic fusing system designed to replace legacy mechanical fuses that are largely imported and used in underwater operations,” she said.On international expansion, Singhal said Southeast Asia and the Middle East offer the most immediate opportunities, as these markets are receptive to cost-effective defence technologies and technology transfer partnerships similar to India’s defence ecosystem. In contrast, she said, customers in Europe and the United States generally prefer co-development models, given their more mature technological capabilities.“The Indian market was our primary focus. Earlier, our production capacity was limited, so we prioritised domestic demand and declined export opportunities. Over the past six to seven months, however, we have expanded our production capabilities, allowing us to cater to both domestic and international markets,” she said. The company has raised $1.1 million in a seed funding round co-led by India Accelerator and its multi-stage venture capital arm Finvolve. It is now planning a second funding round over the next four to five months. The proceeds from the fundraise will be used to scale existing products and develop new indigenous defence technologies.Founded in September 2024, Ammunic Systems is a defence R&D company focused on the design and development of weapon systems, with expertise in advanced electronic fuzes, warheads and munition integration technologies.Published on July 9, 2026
