The Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Wednesday signed a contract with Bengaluru-based Accord Software and Systems Private Ltd (ASSPL) for the procurement of 20 Enhanced Capability Global Navigation Satellite System (ECGNSS) Jammers for the Indian Navy at a total cost of ₹449 crore with a minimum of 75 per cent indigenous content.These jammers are advanced electronic warfare (EW) systems designed to disrupt, degrade, and manipulate satellite-based navigation and timing signals used by adversaries.The system’s capabilities include degrading the satellite signal acquisition and tracking performance of the adversary GNSS receiver and signal spoofing or deceptive jamming, the MoD stated in a statement. “The induction would pave the way for safe operations by the ships of the Indian Navy in a multi-threat environment,” the Ministry stated.The contract, under the Buy (Indian-Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) category, was inked in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh in the national capital.The Ministry said that the contract reinforces the government’s commitment to Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make-in-India while bolstering the maritime security architecture of the country. It marks a critical milestone in the ongoing efforts to bolster defence capabilities and indigenise advanced military technology.Workshop on Defence ProcurementMeanwhile, a workshop on defence procurement, Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX), Technology Perspective Capability Roadmap (TPCR) and Testing Procedures for MSMEs and Start-ups will take place at Manekshaw Centre, Delhi Cantonment, over two days beginning on Thursday. The event is being jointly organised by the Indigenisation Directorate, Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) and the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS). It is aimed at enhancing awareness and exhorting greater participation of MSMEs and start-ups in the defence ecosystem, said the Ministry.The event will provide an interactive platform for industry representatives to gain insights into defence procurement procedures, indigenisation initiatives, iDEX framework, testing and certification processes and TPCR. Senior officers and experts from HQ IDS, Service Headquarters, DGQA, iDEX-DIO and other stakeholder organisations will interact with the participants during various sessions.Published on June 10, 2026
