The agency said that the operation, carried out in the early hours of Monday, formed part of its renewed efforts to combat crime, environmental violations and other offences across the state in line with the Lagos State Government's THEMES Plus Agenda.
The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit, popularly known as the Lagos Taskforce, says it has arrested 33 suspected criminals during a coordinated enforcement operation across parts of Lagos, recovering suspected hard drugs and dangerous weapons from the suspects.
The agency said that the operation, carried out in the early hours of Monday, formed part of its renewed efforts to combat crime, environmental violations and other offences across the state in line with the Lagos State Government's THEMES Plus Agenda.
According to a statement issued by the Director of Public Affairs of the Lagos State Taskforce, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, the enforcement exercise targeted street urchins, suspected drug users and dealers, illegal commercial motorcyclists (Okada riders), street traders, ticket touts and other individuals accused of threatening public safety and environmental order.
Abdulraheem stated that the operation covered Ikate Bus Stop, Marwa Bus Stop, Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island, Obalende Underbridge, Law School Junction and adjoining areas along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, where security agencies had reportedly observed the activities of suspected criminal elements.
