EU restrictions imposed on certain Chinese suppliers of components for Russia's defense industry are justified and necessary to strengthen security and deter Russian aggression.

Vladyslav Vlasiuk, the President's Commissioner for Sanctions Policy, said this in a comment to Ukrinform.

"First and foremost, it should be emphasized that neither Ukraine nor our European partners intend to impose sanctions for the sake of sanctions or create artificial obstacles for Chinese businesses. The EU restrictions introduced as part of the latest package are a necessary and justified step," Vlasiuk said.

According to the commissioner, Ukraine constantly finds Chinese-made components in downed Russian drones and missiles that kill Ukrainians every day.

"Imposing restrictions on suppliers of these components is a matter of security and stopping aggression," Vlasiuk said.
