But the swimmer bagged himself a third-placed finish in the Men’s 50m breaststroke final in Glasgow to add a bronze to his haul before discussing the hardships he has faced in his private life.‌The swimmer, 31, spoke to TNT Sports after his latest efforts in the water and revealed how tough the last two years have been. He called it "pretty tough to get that speed back" and admitted he will "have to learn this experience as a whole really".‌Adam said: "I think for me just getting back to the enjoyment of racing. I've really enjoyed tonight. I made a few errors but you can train the hardest in the world and you can work the hardest in the world but it doesn't really matter unless you're race polished and I'm not."He went on: "I'm not going to be too hard on myself because I'm incredibly proud of the journey I've been on my whole career. Even in this room, 12 years ago I'm a different man, well, I wasn't even a man then.‌“Now look at me I've got nearly a six year old and a daughter on the way in December so it's all in perspective and sometimes I think the hard times are more important than the good."His pregnant wife Holly was once again in the stands to cheer on her man. While he didn't specifically note his bad times, his words come after his estranged mum had her say on their bitter fallout. The family came to loggerheads prior to the Olympian's wedding to Holly, who is the daughter of chef Gordon Ramsay.‌As the pair tied the knot, his mum and dad were nowhere to be seen after their son withdrew their invite to his big day. In a recent post on Instagram, mum Caroline spoke out after watching her son take part in his first Commonwealth Games since their feud.She said: "I forgive people but that doesn't mean I accept their behaviour or trust them. I forgive them for me, so I can let go and move on with my life."His mum admitted she had spoke with a national newspaper about her son in the early stages of their fallout, but insists she has not talked about him publicly since and hinted she's ready to build bridges.‌Caroline shared: "We continue to support Adam from afar. He's our son who we love, whom we supported to reach his aspirations. Our love, our time, our sacrifices were given freely with no expectation of financial reward just genuinely given with the love as any mother and father would do for their child."Her words came after Adam's interview following his other bronze-medal finish in the 100m breaststroke final in Glasgow.
