British holidaymakers have described fleeing “horrific” French wildfires with flames towering several stories high as they drove down the only escape route from a popular tourist resort.
Evacuees from the Cap Ferret peninsula were forced to flee with their children down the road linking to the mainland as they drove past walls of flames.
