The Samsung SSD 870 EVO SATA III 2.5″ 2TB is a solid-state drive that goes into the same bay a laptop or desktop hard drive already sits in. Two terabytes is enough space for Windows, a game library, and a few years of photos on one drive. A PC can read from it at up to 560 MB/s and write to it at up to 530 MB/s, as fast as the SATA interface allows. The drive comes with a five-year limited warranty.

A hard drive to quickly and easily help extend your storage
A SATA SSD is a great upgrade for a spinning hard disk drive inside a computer, or an older solid-state drive that has become full. Because the 870 EVO uses the 2.5-inch size, it will fit into nearly all laptops and into many desktops with a drive mount, and no adapter is needed to install it. It connects via SATA III at 6Gb/s, but it can be used with a variety of older SATA versions including those at 3Gb/s and 1.5Gb/s, so you could put this in a ten-year-old computer and would not need a controller card.
Intelligent TurboWrite reserves part of the drive as a faster write buffer, with this particular capacity reserving a larger amount of space than the smaller versions do. That means a large file copy will maintain its speed longer during a transfer rather than losing performance partway through. Sixth-generation V-NAND and Samsung’s MKX controller sit underneath all of it, providing consistent performance regardless of how many other tasks are running at the same time.
