July 27 (UPI) -- A highly anticipated midsummer showdown at Ascot in England produced a surprise result in the highlight of weekend racing and also seems likely to send an all-star field to contend in major races worldwide in the coming months.
That race, the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth and one for 2-year-olds at Ascot, were Breeders' Cup "Win and You're In" events. So, too, was the Bing Crosby at Del Mar.
