Registration for the 14th edition of Walkaroo Coimbatore Marathon, organised by the Coimbatore Cancer Foundation (CCF) in association with runners, began on Monday. The marathon will be held on December 20. District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar, Commissioner of Police N. Kannan, and Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja launched the registration and enrolled themselves for the event.Organisers expect 27,000 participants in the event, which aims to promote cancer awareness and encourage healthy lifestyle. The marathon features four categories - Half Marathon (21.1 km), 10 km Run, 5 km Timed Run and 5 km Run/Walk. According to the organisers, the marathon has raised over ₹7.5 crore for cancer awareness, patient support and community outreach programmes since its inception in 2013.
