A marathon, titled ‘Run for Nation 2026’, will be organised at Nehru Stadium on August 9. To be organised jointly by VGM Gastro, Ortho and Multispecialty Hospital and Kovai Athletic Club, it is expected attract over 7,000 participants. Over 40 organisations, Institutions and sports clubs are expected to partner in this event.“Over 100 differently abled people participated in the marathon last year. This year, we are planning to encourage over 150 differently abled people [to attend the event],” said, Suman, consultant orthopaedic surgeon, medical director, VGM Hospital, chairperson of Health Young Indians, president of Kovai Athletic Club, and vice-president of ‘Run for Nation 2026’.“The marathon will focus on sports, education and health for the betterment of all students and citizens. Also, there will be special emphasis on how to ‘Save Your Knee’ from arthritis and ligament injuries. This will be the prime motto of Run for Nation 2026,” said, V.G. Mohan Prasad, chairperson of VGM Hospital and chairpeson of ‘Run for Nation 2026’.The marathon was announced and T-shirt unveiled by Singanallur MLA K.S. Giriprasath.
