As more South Africans embrace digital channels for everyday transactions, Telkom has enhanced its online mobile postpaid platform, allowing new customers to complete the entire contract application process digitally without human intervention.
The new capability forms part of Telkom’s broader digital transformation strategy and is designed to simplify what has traditionally been a complex, agent-assisted customer journey.
Rather than simply replicating an in-store application online, the platform automates key stages of the process, enabling customers to apply for a mobile contract, verify their identity, complete required documentation and track their order through a single digital journey.
A major focus of the platform is security and customer trust. Telkom has introduced facial recognition for identity verification, real-time account and deposit validation, and integrated e-signature functionality.
These features are intended to address concerns that may discourage customers from completing mobile contract applications online, including uncertainty around identity verification, payment processes and what happens after an order has been submitted.
