A BBC presenter has joined this year's Commonwealth Games coverage for TNT Sports12:36, 27 Jul 2026There have been a number of changes made at this year's Commonwealth Games.‌The 2026 games kicked off in the stunning Scottish city of Glasgow last week, following a spectacular Opening Ceremony, which featured appearances from King Charles and Sir Chris Hoy.‌The ceremony was broadcast live on Channel 5 and TNT Sports, but viewers have struggled to find coverage as the sporting events began the following morning. This comes after TNT Sports acquired the exclusive live television rights in the UK, ending the BBC's historic 72-year streak of live coverage.‌The daily live coverage on TNT Sports begins at 8.30am each morning, while the day's highlights air every night on Channel 5. Sports enthusiasts can also keep up to date with every event on HBO Max.This isn't the only alteration, as Glasgow notably stepped in as hosts after the Australian state of Victoria pulled out in July 2023. There are also a number of new presenters taking control of the coverage this year, reports the Express.‌Ex-tennis player Laura Robson is one of the newcomers fronting coverage on TNT Sports. However, sporting fans have been left confused as the tennis star leads the gymnastics coverage live from the Glasgow International Arena."It would help if they had a presenter who actually understood gymnastics," one X (formerly Twitter) user wrote, while another felt that the other pundits were "talking rings" around Laura.A third commented: "Laura Robson looks way out of her depth," while someone else shared: "This is Laura Robson, the ex professional tennis player/Olympic doubles medalist. Not sure why she's working on gymnastics though."‌Meanwhile, other viewers spoke highly of Laura's presenting skills, with one person writing: "I like Laura tbh and she is good on @SkySports.""She's been presenting the gymnastics at the Commonwealth Games and [is doing] really good again tbh," another added, while a third said: "One of the few commentators on there I recognise."‌Laura began her tennis career on the ITF Junior Circuit in 2007, and a year later won the Junior Wimbledon Championships at the age of 14. As a junior, she also twice reached the final of the girls' singles tournament at the Australian Open, in 2009 and 2010.In singles tennis, Laura was the first British woman since Samantha Smith at Wimbledon in 1998 to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam tournament, doing so at the 2012 US Open and the 2013 Wimbledon Championships.Since announcing her retirement from tennis in 2022, Laura has worked as a presenter and pundit for the BBC and TNT Sports.
