Ntuthuko Mchunu has been invited back into the Springboks' training camp as the men’s senior national team prepare for their once-off Test against Argentina and the upcoming Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry (RGR).
Mchunu was initially dropped from the squad after the completion of the recent Nations Championship clashes against England, Scotland and Wales, but SA Rugby confirmed on Monday that the Stormers prop had been called up to Johannesburg to join the team. The 27-year old recently played against the Scots and Barbarians.
The loosehead joins props Thomas du Toit, Wilco Louw, Ox Nche, Zachary Porthen, Carlu Sadie, Gerhard Steenekamp and Boan Venter in the setup. His inclusion has also increased the squad to 44 players. The Stormers' Evan Roos and the Bulls' Andre-Hugo Venter, meanwhile, are now the only players released back to their unions after the Nations Championship.
Rassie Erasmus and Co assembled this past Sunday for their training camp, with the coach set to name the touring squad for Argentina later this week. The rest of the squad will remain in South Africa to continue their preparations for the RGR.
